Altitude sickness is a significant risk when trekking on any trails above about 2500m. The risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) can be alleviated by allowing the body to adjust with altitude through acclimatization. Your health and safety are our utmost concerns. Welcome to the beautiful country Nepal. Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be received by us and assisted in the hotel transfer. After the hotel check in, we will have a short arrival briefing and complete any outstanding formalities required for the trek. After the short briefing, you will be free to rest in the comfort of your Hotel or stroll around to explore the surrounding areas. In the evening you will be picked up for a welcome dinner to enjoy the authentic Nepali dinner along with beautiful cultural dances.
After a hearty breakfast, we will go for a guided sightseeing to various UNESCO world heritage listed sites in Bhaktapur. Famous for its intricately carved temples and Palaces, Bhaktapur showcases a unique fusion of Hindu and Buddhist Culture. We will get plenty of time to explore this ancient Newari city at our pace. After the tour, We will be met by our Trek leader/ guide for the rest of our trek. He will brief us regarding the trek for any last minute trek preparation.
We will be transferred to the domestic airport to take an early flight to Lukla. The 40 minute flight to Lukla is an exciting flight, full of beautiful scenery as we fly parallel to the majestic Himalayan giants. We will meet our porters, who will be carrying our equipment for the rest of our trek, on our landing in the beautiful Everest region. We will catch our breath, enjoying his unique atmosphere of the Everest region before hitting the trail. The trek starts with a descent towards the Dudh Koshi river, passing through colorful Mani stones and prayer flags. We will soon join the main trail to Namche Bazaar which is the starting point for many great adventures. We enjoy an easy walk through beautiful villages of Chheplung (2650) and Ghat (2550m) before reaching Phakding. From Phakding we walk along the west bank of the Dudh Koshi river to steeply climb a rocky ridge towards Benkar (2710m). The trail traverse magnificent forest of rhododendron, magnolia and giant firs along with the stunning view of Thamsheru and the Holy Khumbhila of Everest Region. We cross the Kyashar Khola River and climb out of the valley to Monjo where we will rest our walk for the day. (2810m) (4:30 hrs)
After a short walk , we come to the check post and an entrance to the Sagarmatha National Park. The trail makes a steep rocky descend to cross a 120 meter long suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi River. Beyond the national park entrance station, the trail makes a steep rocky descent and crosses the Dhud Kosi River on a 120m-long suspension bridge towards Jorsale (2830m). We pass through several caravans of yaks on our way which indicates an unchanged lifestyle in this region. The trail continues upstream through the pine and rhododendron forest and bridges to reach the confluence of the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers. We continue walking upstream enjoying the view of Mt Everest,Lhotse and Taboche until we reach the prosperous Namche Bazaar (4:30 hrs).
Today we stay at Namche Bazaar for the second night to allow us for a proper acclimatization. Namche Bazaar is the largest Sherpa village in the Everest region interspersed with colorful panoply of houses, restaurants and lodges. It is nestled in a u-shaped amphitheater surrounded by the great Himalayan range on three sides and opening out to the Bhote Khosi on the other. Namche bazaar has been a major trading center in this region since the period when the trade with Tibet flourished. It is recommended that we take the opportunity to see both the sunrise and the sunset views over the Himalayas from the national park headquarters. After the breakfast, we can either go for a steep climb out of the village to Shyangboche Airstrp to enjoy the panorama of great mountains such as Mount Everest, Amadablam, Lhotse, Tawaoche, Peak 38 and Thamsherku or visit the national park headquarters. The visit to the national park headquarters will give you an opportunity to take a glimpse into the Sherpa culture and Lifestyle at Sherpa Museum.(4:30hrs)
The walk from from Namche to Tengboche starts with the well-worn Everest trail contouring around the side of the valley high above the Dudh Koshi river. We walk making small ups and downs to the teashops of Kyangjuma and join the trails from Khumjung to reach a collection of colorful Mani stones and prayer flags. The view of Everest and Ama Dablam is magnificent from this part of the trek. We pass through Sanasa, which is inhabited by Sherpas, after which the trail drops to Phunki Thanga (3250m). The trail now takes an ascent through the alpine forest and Mani stones to the saddle where sits the Monastery of Tengboche. The photogenic view of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse (8501m), Kwangde (6187m), Tawachee (6542m), Ama Dablan, Kantega and Thamserku provide from the Tengboche monastery is considered to be one of the most splendid views of the world. We spend the night at Tenboche village.
Today is a rest day to aid acclimatization. We explore this magnificent monastery by experiencing the activities of Lama while performing a ceremony and listening to the mystical Buddhist chanting and music. After the breakfast we can take a short hike to Pangboche via nunnery at Dibuche. It is a short, steep and muddy descent through a forest of rhododendrons conifers and birches to Dibuche. After crossing suspension bridge over the Imja Khola, the trail ascends past some magnificently carved Mani stones to Pangboche at 3860m.
We take a descent from Tengboche to cross the suspension bridge at Phunkitenga and start ascend to Tashinga. The trail contours the valley of Sanaa before arriving at Kyangjuma where we will stop for the lunch. After climbing a few stairs from Kyanjuma we enter the splendid Khumjung valley inhabited by Sherpas. The Khumjung Valley is the largest valley in the Everest region with more than 2000 population. We will visit the Khumjung Monastery to have a look at the skull, which is believed to be of Yeti. ( 4:30 hours)
We descend to Phakingma through Namche Bazaar, Monjo and Chomoa. A steep descent from Namche Bazaar leads us to the suspension bridge over the confluence of the Dhudh Koshi and the Bhote Koshi Rivers. We cross the Dudh Koshi River twice at separate locations before reaching Monjo. We check out from the checkpoint at Monjo. From Monjo, we go through the forests of magnolia, giant firs and rhododendron to Chomoa. We cross Dudh Koshi river and continue to Phakdingma where we will spend our night. (5.30 hrs)
After the breakfast at Phakding, We retrace our way back to Lukla. Lukla is famous for its end of trek celebrations. However, we should not overdo it, as the flight back to Kathmandu is not best enjoyed with a hangover! (3 hours)
We rise early to catch our flight to Kathmandu. Upon our arrival at Kathmandu, we will be transferred to our hotel in Kathmandu. This is a perfect day to relax and clean yourself. If you want to celebrate the end of the trek by enjoying a night life in Kathmandu, we can suggest you with some happening places to party.
This is the time you can relax in the worldly comfort in the Kathmandu. You can go for shopping for souvenirs, relax your muscles in a spa or even visit some notable places around Kathmandu valley. We provide extra drive and drop services anywhere in Kathmandu valley
