Everest Family Trek is a short family trek in the Everest region that provides close views of the grand Mount Everest with ample of time in Sherpa villages to explore the culture. This itinerary is specially designed for the people interested to explore the unique Himalayan culture while enjoying the best views of the mountains. We get to learn about the Sherpa’s spiritual prospective as we pass through remote mountain monasteries and trails lined with mani stones engraved with Buddhist prayers. The trek takes you to the lush vegetation of Sagarmatha National Park with rhododendron and pine forest with abundant wildlife. We get plenty of stunning photographic moments along the trails full of rich flora, fauna and mountain scenery. We get the opportunity to interact with many legendary Sherpa mountaineers and participate in their astonishing traditional lifestyle.
Everest Family Trek is enjoyable for the family, Student Groups and even differently able People. The trek takes place in the Everest region – one of the best trekking destinations in Nepal. The maximum altitude of the trek is 4345 which will require moderate physical fitness for a comfortable trekking experience.
Our itinerary is leisurely paced to allow generous acclimatization at the higher altitude. We stay in our hand-picked Eco lodges and guest houses in the villages. Welcome to the beautiful country, Nepal. Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, we will receive you from Tribhuvan International Airport and assist you with the hotel transfer. After the hotel check in, we will have a brief orientation and complete any remaining formalities required for the trek. After the short briefing, we are free to rest in the comfort of the hotel or stroll around to explore the vibrant surroundings. In the evening we will savor a wonderful welcome dinner while enjoying a cultural program at an authentic Nepali restaurant. Overnight in Kathmandu.
After the breakfast, we will go for the guided tour in the Bhaktapur City. The Bhaktapur city is an ancient city listed in UNESCO world heritage sites boasting a rich Newari medieval art and architecture. Numerous temples and palaces with intricately carved arts and designs shows the unique fusion of Buddhist and Hindu influence. There is a plenty of time to explore this ancient city at our own pace. In the afternoon, we will meet our trekking guide for the trek briefing for a final trek preparation. Overnight in Kathmandu.
We rise early to be transported to the domestic airport for our flight to Lukla. Flight to Lukla is a scenic 30 to 40 minute fight where we fly over green hills enjoying the thrill of flying parallel to the great Himalayan Giants. Upon our arrival in Lukla, we will meet our porters who will carry our equipment throughout the trek. We explore the beautiful new atmosphere before we start our trek to Phakding. We walk through terraced hillsides along stone fences to the Dudh Kosi River and cross a hanging bridge to reach Phakding. Our first night in the Everest Region is spent in the small village of Phakding (2610m) which sits along the beautifully flowing Dudh Koshi River. (3 hrs)
After a hearty breakfast, we set out on the trail as it wanders through rolling terrain, past traditional houses, plowed fields and pine and cedar forests. After walking through the village of Monjo, we enter the Sagarmatha National Park, where our trekking permits will be checked. The trail makes a steep rocky descent and crosses the Dhud Kosi River on a 120m-long suspension bridge towards Jorsale (2830m). Beyond Jorsale the trail undulates up through the forests and bridges until the confluence of Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers is reached. The trail winds up 300m of the steep spur between the two rivers through sparse forest. From the top of the spur, Mt. Everest can be seen rising above the Nuptse-Lhotse wall. The trail gets less steep as we walk uphills enjoying the splendid view of Mt Everest, Lhotse and Taboche above the Bhote Kosi until Namche Bazaar is reached. Namche is the largest Sherpa village which has long been the primary staging area for major Himalayan expeditions.
Today is an acclimatization day where we spend the day by exploring the village. Namche Bazaar is a colorful Sherpa village with many wonderful and interesting shops, Internet cafes, restaurants, government offices, ATMs and a colorful market each Friday evening and Saturday. Stunning views of the surrounding Himalayas make staying in Namche very comfortable and relaxing. We should take the opportunity to relish the superb experience of viewing both sunrise and sunset over the Himalayas from the national park headquarters. We have various options on how we want to spend our day. We can either enjoy a steep walk out of the village above Shyangboche Airstrip for a wonderful view of Everest, Amadablam, Lhotse, Tawoche, Peak 38 and Thamserku or a visit to the National Park headquarters. The museum at the national park headquarters has a wonderful display of Sherpa culture and lifestyle. (4:30hrs)
The walk from Namche to Thame is an easy walk, enjoying the beautiful mountain views. After passing through water falls and various terrains we reach the settlement of Thamo, a cluster of houses on the main trail. We have plenty of time to spend on this Sherpa village learning and exploring the unique culture and lifestyle of mountain people. (5hrs)
Our trail today goes back to the path near Namche. We take a short route to Khumjung through forests. We pass Shyangboche which has the highest airstrip in Nepal. We enjoy the excellent views of Everest, Lhotse and Amadablam as we pass through the yak farm and Buddhist Stupa.Our trek follows a smooth trail with few ups and downs as the splendid view of the Himalayas keeps our company all through the journey. Along the way, we have a chance of spotting wildlife such as musk deer, a herd of Himalayan Thar and multicolored pheasants. The trail goes gradually down up to Khumjung , the biggest Sherpa settlement in the region. Short descend from here will lead us to Kyangjuma. Overnight at Kyangjuma. (4 hrs)
The trail climbs steeply from Kyangjuma through rhododendron and juniper forest. This part of the trek is very beautiful in spring when the bright colored rhododendron brightens up the atmosphere. We pass through the herder’s temporary hut at Tongla and climb to reach Mongla. The isolated trail to Phortse is undulating with magnificent views of Kantega, Thamserku and Cho Oyu.The view of Khumbila and Tawachee are tremendous throughout the day. We descend down to Ngozumba river and walk further as we cross the river and forests to reach a glorious Sherpa village called Phortse. (6 hrs).
We continue on the rough trail on the ridges from Phortse Village. We enjoy the fantastic view of Amadablam and Everest as we reach he beautiful Monastery called Pangboche Monastary. The trail joins the regular path to Everest Base Camp in the new Pangboche where we will start walking towards the Sommare Village to reach the Imjtse Dingboche Village.On arrival at Dingboche, we will see the beautiful array of fields enclosed by stone walls to protect barley, buckwheat and potatoes from the cold winds and grazing animals. Overnight at Dingboche. (6 hrs)
Today we pend or second night at Dingboche which will help us to aid our acclimatization. A refreshing breakfast while admiring a looming Ama Dablam (6856m/ 22493 ft) to the south is really fantastic from Dingboche. To enjoy the close up views of Island Peak, Makalu, Lhotse, Everest and other nearby peaks better, we hike up to the view point at Chhukung Ri and Island Peak Base Camp to. After enjoying the wonderful views of the Himalayan giants, we retrace our steps back to Dingboche. (6 hrs)
The route from Dingboche descents to the Imja Valley to cross the Khumbu Khola on a wooden bridge. The trail goes uphill through stone huts and descends to arrive at Tengboche. (3hrs)
We descent steeply from Tengboche to the suspension ridge at Phunkitenga. Further, we pass the village of Tashinga and Sansa before finally reaching the beautiful village of Kyangjuma. We slowly head back to Jorsale through the busy Namche Bazaar. We cross Jorsale bridge, pass through the jungle and walk along the river bank of Dudh Koshi to stop at the beautiful accommodation at riverside.( 5:30hrs)
Today is our last day of our wonderful trekking adventure. We start our walk along the river following the bridges to Monjo. We walk along the river Dudh Koshi to take final uphill limb from Chheplung to Lukla.We enjoy our final chat with our porters who have been of great help throughout our trek. Lukla is known for its end of the trek celebrations. But we should not overdo it, as the flight to Lukla to Kathamdnu is not best enjoyed with a hangover.
We rise early for our flight scenic flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. We say goodbye to the Everest region as we view the beautiful mountains for the last time. We will be transferred to hotel in Kathmandu. We are free to spend the rest of the day on our own. This may be a perfect day to relax our worn fatigued muscles with a great massage and Spas available in Kathmandu. We can also celebrate our success of our trek with a party at one of the happening places in Kathmandu.
Today, we get a leisure time in Kathmandu. This is one of the best opportunities to visit the places we had missed earlier. We can visit famous temples and palaces around the Kathmandu Valley on our own or with a guide. The Kathmandu Valley is filled with many historical temples like Swayambhu, Pashupatinath and Boudha Stupa. We offer extra drive and drop services in Kathmandu Valley.
The beautiful journey in this unique Himalayan country ends today. We get transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport for a departure to our next destination. We play back our pleasant memories of our adventure as we bid farewell to this wonderful country.
